Free immunizations at county health departments April 22-26

In recognition of National Infant Immunization Week, the Mississippi State Department of Health is offering free routine immunizations for infants and children through 18 years of age at all county health departments the week of April 22-26.

Vaccinations in this promotion include protection for infants, children and adolescents against the following diseases:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Monday, the Mississippi Department of Health reported 14 new human West Nile virus cases, including one in Yazoo County. Eight cases of WNV have been reported in Yazoo County so far this year.

Across the state, a record 200 cases of West Nile virus and five deaths have been reported this year.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Monday, the Mississippi Department of Health reported 17 new human West Nile virus cases, including one in Yazoo County. Seven cases of WNV have been reported in Yazoo County so far this year.

Across the state, 186 cases of West Nile virus and four deaths have been reported this year.

Free Tetanus vaccinations available in Yazoo County

To assist in the cleanup efforts following Hurricane Isaac, the Mississippi State Department of Health is offering free Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccinations at all county health departments in federally declared counties impacted by Hurricane Isaac.

Yazoo County is included in the declaration.

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reminds all storm-affected residents that a tetanus vaccination is recommended if it's been 10 years or more since your last tetanus vaccination.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Monday, the Mississippi Department of Health reported 26 new West Nile virus cases, including one in Yazoo County.

A total of  four cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Yazoo County this year.

So far this year, 140 cases of West Nile virus and four deaths have been reported in the state.

YAZOO COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Monday, the Mississippi Department of Health announced seven new human cases of West Nile virus, inclduing one in Yazoo County.

So far this year, cases have been reported in Lauderdale, Hancock, Lincoln, Marion, Yazoo, Hinds, Jones, Forrest, Covington, Coahoma and Wayne counties.

In 2011, Mississippi had 52 WNV cases and five deaths.

The Mississippi State Department of Health recommends the following precautions to reduce the risk of contracting WNV:
