Registration is now open for the Ricks Memorial Library summer reading program -- "Dig into Reading."

The program will be held June 4, 11, 18 and 26 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Ricks Memorial Library undergoing renovation

YAZOO CITY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Ricks Memorial Library is undergoing its first major removation in more than 10 years, according to the library's Facebook page.

Parker Builders of Yazoo City and Ingram Plaster and Co. of Jackson are working to repair and replace damaged plaster, replicate crown molding and paint all of the rooms.

South Delta WMA public meeting Sept. 25

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Park will host a public meeting in Vicksburg Sept. 25, to discuss the South Delta Wildlife Management Areas.

The meeting is from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hinds Community College in Vicksburg.

The meeting will showcase regional WMA harvest data, wildlife habitat and infrastructure improvements and regulation changes, according to the MDWFP.

Squirrel hunting set to start in area Oct. 15

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi squirrel hunting season is quickly approaching and will last through the end of February.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks says now is the time to check equipment and prepare for a safe hunting season.

Hunters should be sure their hunting licenese are not expired, according to the MDWFP.

WARREN COUNTY, MS - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) announced today they are removing several waters from the 2001 Delta Regional Fish Advisory.

Yazoo County receives StormReady designation

Yazoo County receives StormReady designation

PEARL, MS (WLBT) - Yazoo County will become the latest Mississippi county to receive the StormReady designation from the National Weather Service.

This makes 37 StormReady designations in Mississippi that includes 15 cities or towns, 19 counties, two state universities and one government site, according to a press release from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Wolf and Broad lakes reopened

Wolf and Broad Lakes are now open for fishing and boating activities, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced Wednesday.

The lakes were previously closed under Executive Order #1053 due to unsafe water levels.
