The Yazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau's 2nd annual CVB Honors celebrated the accomplishments of the county's tourism industry and the business and individuals who make it happen.

The 2012 CVB Honors awards went to:

Sales tax holiday starts Friday

Mississippi's annual sales tax holiday starts Friday at 12:01 a.m. and will last 48 hours until midnight on Saturday, July 28.

During the event, the sales tax is waived on specific items, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.

The Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed NewWave Link, an authorized AT&T Wireless dealer, during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

NewWave Link is located in 49 Junction.

New CVS to open Feb. 18

According to the Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce, the new CVS pharmacy in Yazoo City will have its grand opening Feb. 18.

The store and its manager, Stacey Yates, are the newest members of the chamber.

Yazoo City man's lost Christmas shopping money returned by honest citizen

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Just imagine while Christmas shopping you look down and find a large amount of money what would you do? 

On the other hand, what if you had lost that money?

In this hectic sometimes uncaring world do honest people still exist?

One Yazoo County man found that the answer is 'yes'.

Ladies' Night Out in Yazoo

Ladies' Night Out is Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at retailers across Yazoo.

According to the Yazoo Convention & Visitors Bureau, to be eligible to win you must visit each store and get your Ladies' Night Out card signed.

Cards are available at any participating merchant or on the Yazoo CVB Facebook page.

Drop off signed cards at No Smoking Smoke House or at the last store you visit. A drawing for $100 in "Yazoo Dollars" will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Tablet computers burst into the technology market a little less than two years ago with the launch of Apple’s iPad tablet. The iPad tablets account for nearly 80 percent of the tablet market, but other manufacturers, like Amazon, Motorola, Samsung and Toshiba, are introducing their newest version of the tablet just in time for the holiday season.

Tablet computers are larger versions of smart phones and slimmed down versions of home laptops. In addition, tablets can serve as digital cameras.
